Arapahoe County provides grants to human services, health and wellness and crisis intervention organizations serving the county’s at-risk and under-served population.

The application period for 2012 is now closed.

For more information, please contact Beverly Head in the Board of County Commissioners Administration Office at 303-734-5459 or by e-mail to bhead@co.arapahoe.co.us.

Grant Application Criteria

Grant applications are accepted annually. The following criteria should be met to be eligible for grant funding, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Agency services are to be provided to Arapahoe County residents.
  • Funded agencies are to submit an annual report to the Board of County Commissioners.
  • All agencies are to be either a 501 (C) 3 or a 501 (C) tax-exempt organization.
  • Failure to follow the grant application process could eliminate the agency from consideration.
  • A long-term goal developed to establish self sufficiency.

The funds granted may be used only for the purpose outlined in the recipient's application. Funds not spent according to the grant proposal must be returned to Arapahoe County unless the Board of County Commissioners has approved alternative arrangements. There is no guarantee an agency will receive a grant by submitting an application, even if they meet criteria.

Payment schedules will be based on the total dollar amount of the grant. $0-$49,999 will be paid in one lump sum; $50,000-$74,999 will be paid quarterly; and $75,000 and above will be paid monthly.

Please note: All grant approvals are based strictly on the availability of funds to the County and are not automatically awarded annually, even if an application has been submitted and/or approved in the past.

2011 Application Timeline

The timeline for applying for 2012 grant funding is as follows:

4:30 p.m., July 15, 2011 — Deadline for submitting application for 2012 grant funding
October 2011 — The Board of County Commissioners will decide allocations.
December 2011 — Award letters will be sent to grant recipients.

If notified that an award was granted, the following documents will need to be submitted:

  • A financial report for the period of Jan. 1 through June 30 of the previous year.
  • Proof of liability insurance.
  • A performance audit and quantitative statement as to the actual level of services provided by the agency during the previous year.
  • A copy of the financial statements and audit of the year prior to the previous year.
  • Proof of the agency's not-for-profit status.
  • Three signed copies of the grant agreement.

Arapahoe County does not knowingly support organizations that discriminate in their provision of service based on race, color, religious affiliation, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, physical appearance, national origin, language, educational background, or veteran status. Grants will not be awarded for projects designed purely for a place of worship.
