Don’t burn gas, burn calories by joining the thousands of people in Arapahoe County expected to mount their bikes for the morning commute to work on Bike to Work Day, Wednesday, June 26.
Registration for Bike to Work Day 2019 is free. The event – organized by the Denver Regional Council of Governments - encourages those who are looking to stay healthy while avoiding gridlock and using an alternative method to get to work.
According to ilovebicycling.com, an average 180 lb. cyclist riding at a moderate effort level will burn approximately 650 calories per hour.
Getting to work safely is just as important as getting there on time. A bicycle helmet can greatly reduce the risk of serious injury in the event of an accident, as well as accessories such as:
· Bright and reflective clothing
· Bell or horn
· Headlight and taillight
· Reflectors on wheels and pedals
For the fourth year, Arapahoe County will be cheering on the riders at two locations for the morning commute:
Arapahoe Rd. Trailhead: 14460-15136 E. Arapahoe Rd., Centennial, CO 80112
High Line Canal Station: South Quebec Way Trailhead, 1900 S. Quebec Way, Denver 80231
Both locations will be open from 6:30 – 9 a.m. and will feature Little Anita’s breakfast burritos, coffee, water and give-aways, including a keepsake map of Arapahoe County Bikeways and a Mirrycle Incredibell Original Bicycle Bell promoting safety for riders anywhere.
Visit www.biketoworkday.us for more information and to register, plan your route, find breakfast and water stations, join a group ride and order t-shirts.
